Local Artist Visit- November 2013
The McDowall Bunya cubs over the last month visited an Art Gallery at the Mt Cootha Botanical Gardens run by the Pastel Society of Australia, during the visit the cubs helped judge the Artists work on display. After the visit Pastel Society offered us a fantastic opportunity to have a local artist Dianne Osborne visit our group for a fun filled night of painting in Pastels.
The cubs had a ball learning a few techniques from Di on the night. They each had the opportunity to complete two Pastel Painting to take home with them. We would like to thank The Australian Pastal Society, Diart and Di herself for a fantastic night.
Operation Little Hawk 2013
Last Night McDowall Bunya Cubs along with our District attended Operation Little Hawk. It was awesome. There were 13 sixes running around Taralba Park, trying there hand at all different bases. McDB Leaders ran two bases, apple bobbing and paper tower building. The cubs with the aid of Scouts had to navigate their way from base to base. It was a great night something a little bit different for the cubs. I hope all the cubs had a great night. Thanks to 
Kaa and fellow Cub and Scout Leaders for making the night a big success.
Cubs & Scouts at Planetarium and Botanic Gardens
What a fantastic day. We spent a couple of hours touring the Gardens, followed by a viewing in an Art Gallery, then watched an amazing Planetarium show and toured the Planetarium. The best part of the day was a complete surprise when we were photo bombed by a bride. Another successful joint outing between the McDowall Bunya C

New Assistant Joey Leader
In support of the growing popularity of the McDB Joey Mob, Mitchell Lee (a.k.a. Kanga) has been invested as an Assistant Joey Leader. Kanga has been a fantastic asset to our Joey mob working along Turtle ( Jeoy Leader )
Joey Big Day Out
The McDB Joey Mob joined in with other Joeys from across the Brisbane North region for the Joey Big Day Out. This year we spent the day riding model steam trains at the Pine Valley Railway.
Pine Valley Railway is the home of the Qld Society of Model and Experimental Engineers Inc. and is run entirely by volunteers, The McDB Joeys and Leaders would like to give a huge thank-you to all the Engineers, Guards and other staff at the Pine Valley Railway for volunteering there time and their trains for a fantastic day out. A big thank-you to Kanga (Wayne) the Brisbane North Region Joey Leader for organising the day.

McDowall Bunya Cubs Go Up-Up and Away at Air Activities Level 1.
Our Cubs joined with Clifton Hill Cubs for a fun day at the Scouts Queensland Air Activities Centre at Archerfield airport.
The day started out very foggy but turned out to be an absolutely perfect day for flying.
The Air Activities team took control and put the Cubs through four bases to achieve their Level 1 Flight badge.
Throughout the day the Cubs made Kites, Parachutes, Choppers, Balloons and a Balsa wood plane, but the most exciting part was the joy-flight over Archerfield Airport with two fantastic pilots.
A massive BRAVO to the Air Activities Team, Pilots and two first time Parent Helpers, Big Red and Bandy.
McDowall Bunya Cubs join Sir Leslie Wilson District Cubs for the District Abseil Day
Today our cubs spent the day working on some badge work towards Our Heritage Badge, visiting “The Wheel House” Historical Centre at BP Park – Samford. We spent some time navigating our way around BP Park using our compass and codes skills. Spent a couple of hours playing ball games and having lots of fun on the “slippery pig” trying to maintain balance whilst being hit with a pillow by fellow cubs. To top the day off the last activity was Abseiling. The Cubs braved the challenge and tackled their fears to either climb the Abseil tower in the first place or take the leap and walk off a perfectly good tower, backwards, putting trust in the fabulous Abseil Team and themselves. A big thank you to our District Cub Scout Leader – Nyakim for organising the day. I know that all cubs and leaders thoroughly enjoyed the day.
Cubs Tent City Sleepover
We had perfect weather for our tent city sleepover, The cubs set-up our new tents and we tried them out (wasn’t to cold). For the weekend we learnt about fire, tent and bush safety and completed some of our level 1 camping and cooking badge work. We had an excellent movie under the stars and a full moon. We woke for an early morning bush walk followed by a play in the local park. For our newest chum it was a first time sleeping in a tent and having a fire.

Charlotte and Scarlett have joined the growing McDB Joey Scout Mob. The girls have really enjoyed visiting our Joey Mob over the past few weeks and received their scarves and uniform badges in the investment ceremony tonight.
Joey Leader Wombat led the ceremony with a special visit from Group Leader Kaa to present the girls with some special badges.
The McDowall Bunya Scout Group welcome Scarlett and Charlotte into our Scouting family as they start their Scouting journey.
